The Quarantine Diaries... day 5568954
How are you doing?
I've spent the last month alternating between wondering if this will end, pondering what the actual fuck is going on, eating all the baked goods, and taking some serious action in my life & business.
About a week ago, the province of Saskatchewan released a 5 phase plan to re-open the province. I haven't been following the news - but I'm guessing that might be a bit premature as we see a spike in Covid-19 cases in the northern communities, and other scattered cases throughout the province.
When the plans to reopen were first announced, I was watching my social media to see what the reaction would be. Most of it was positive, some worried, but there was one reaction that intrigued me.
I noticed that a few people weren't looking forward to a return to normal. They've been enjoying being home from work, having time with their families, and being less busy overall.
If this is how you've been feeling, this is for you.
Especially, if you've been thinking about how to start doing something that will allow you to make money without going back to your job.
To put everything into context, we need to go back to when I had my first baby in 2002. I took an early maternity leave and so I had to go back to work when she was 10 months old. My mom & dad babysat for us.
I remember the first days returning to work and feeling so lost without my baby. It hurt to not be home with her - like, it was actually physically painful.
I changed things up when I had my second baby and waited until the last possible minute to take my mat leave so that I could have a full year with the girls.
Going back to work was easier this time... but, it still sucked. While on mat leave, I taught myself how to sew cloth diapers and started my first online business, and through the next couple of years managed an online business, worked full time, and spent as much time as I could with my littles.
During my third pregnancy, I knew this was it. I could no longer go to a job - it was time to figure out how to earn money while staying at home full time.
I didn't go back to work & kept working on my online cloth diaper business until I started yoga teacher training when my youngest was around 2 1/2.
Teaching yoga allowed me to be home most of the time, share something I felt passionate about, and earn a decent income while I was at it.
Eventually, I opened my own studio & fast forward to where I am today - my business has grown to include an online yoga studio & a thriving online sexual empowerment coaching business.
I shared all of this because I want you to know that I understand how you're feeling when you think about going back to your job and leaving the freedom of being at home with your family. No amount of money felt like the right amount to me when the alternative was freedom and agency over how & when I worked.
I recognize the massive amount of privilege I've had that's allowed me to take action on having time & work freedom, and I'm infinitely grateful for this. But, It's also been 14 solid years of resilience & dedication to get to where I am today.
There's been one thing that's pulled me through all of the challenges I've faced while starting and growing multiple online businesses.
That thing is my purpose.
The work that I wake up to do every single day is my life's passion. I'm driven to do this because I know that I wouldn't be happy doing anything else. Doing anything other than my purpose would feel heavy & hard, and I signed up for pleasure & freedom.
When I look back on my life, every key moment feels like it's led me to the work I'm doing today.
Everything that makes me unique & special is what allows me to show up in the way that only I can to serve the women who join my yoga & coaching programs.
And, when I create or teach what I feel the most passionate and lit up about - I enter a flow state where time is irrelevant & information flows out of me like it's being channeled from some other dimension.
This is me, living my purpose.
I work on my own terms, and with complete freedom to decide what I'll do and when I want to do it.
My message to you is that you can do this too. You can build a business at home, you can sell your unique kind of magic online. You don't have to go back to a job that depletes your energy and drains your pleasure.
This pause we're collectively taking right now is an opportunity.
(and if you're not pausing because you're an essential services provider, I want you to know that I see you & I'm grateful for you)
You don't have to know why or what or how.
You don't have to be productive right now. Unless you want to be.
You just have to pause.
And consider - is there something else I'm meant to be doing?
And if the answer is yes...
Maybe, this is the time to do it.
I made something for you! It's the exact process I used to get clear on what my purpose is and it's helped me create from a place of passion, pleasure & ease. It's adapted from Rha Goddess's amazing book, The Calling - if you love it, get the book - it's a game-changer.
When you sign up to get this freebie, you'll also receive a series of emails that will help you take the first steps toward starting an online business. I want you to know that this part of the economy is only going to grow, even in these uncertain times.
Right now online business is a 3 TRILLION dollar a year industry and is expected to grow close to 5 trillion by 2021.
I expect that as we move along to navigate a post-pandemic world (let's hope this is sooner rather than later), things will shift more and more to the online space and if you don't take your first steps today, you'll wish you had a year from now.
You probably already know this, but the best time to start is now.
I believe that everyone has a gift, something they can teach, share, or create that makes the world a better place. Some people live out their purpose in a traditional job and are content... and some people are made to create something new for themselves & the world.
Which one are you?
If you're the latter, click the button below and get your dreams in motion! I'm here to support you!
P.S. I'm literally beaming right now as I imagine you taking your first steps toward your dream life.
